Hooper Elementary School Research and Recommendation Project

January–April 2016
As a part of a team, I conducted a study of Hooper Elementary School in Hooper, UT and their internal communication systems. By paying close attention to detail, we were able to recognize breakdowns in their communication and document our findings. We then organized our results in a report that clearly communicated the details of the findings in a way that also provided suggestions and solutions. This real-world application of research allowed me to work under various circumstances on a project with specified style guidelines. We wanted to understand how the different branches of school faculty worked and communicated with one another. Our goal in researching and studying these interactions was to find ways the school could improve the communication between teachers, administrators and specialty teachers. We were initially interested in the interactions between specialty teachers and the normal grade-school teachers. However, many of our observations caused us to more closely examine the communication between the teachers and the administrators. In this report we detailed our observations and recommendations based on our findings. Our data was primarily collected through surveys and interviews, as well as research into the functions and policies of Hooper Elementary School and Weber School District.
